Prerequisite: Dogs must be a minimum of 1 year old. Please note that this is a generalized conditioning class, NOT a rehabilitation class – the focus is on building strength, balance, and body awareness. If your dog has recently recovered from an injury, for the safety of your dog you MUST have the permission/recommendation of your vet to take this class.
Mandatory Equipment: Harness and Kennel. For safety reasons, all dogs participating MUST have a harness which can be easily grasped from above by the handler (ie. Ruffwear Webmaster, which is available at Chaltrek Outdoors). Dogs will require rest breaks, so teams will be partnered and take turns on the equipment. The work on the peanut often requires 2 people, so for that section of the class one dog will be kenneled while the other is worked, and vice versa. This is a very specialized class – if you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
Course Cost: $119
Star Trainers: $109
This class introduces the dog and handler to a variety of canine conditioning equipment. The focus is on developing a level of comfort and confidence with the equipment, and dog/handler teams work at their own pace. Safety is a priority in this class. In addition to the conditioning exercises, students will be taught how to properly warm up and cool down their dogs before and after activity, possibly indicators of weakness or injury, and the importance of keeping dogs at an appropriate weight and keeping nails trimmed.
The purpose of this class is to use low impact equipment to build core strength, stability, body awareness, and balance. The handler is an integral part of the exercises – which helps build relationship and trust.
Whether you are trying to improve the conditioning of a performance dog, improve the balance of a senior dog, introducing a puppy to new experiences, or working on developing your relationship, this class will benefit you and your dog.
