Seminar Overview

See Spot Run: Dog Sports for Every Dog is designed for communities who have limited access to dog training opportunities or dog sports. This fun and engaging seminar introduces basic dog training and relationship building, performance foundations for a variety of dog sports, and some behavioural modification concepts.

The seminar begins with an introduction to basic dog training, including the effective use of positive reinforcement (including play), the importance of building relationships and engagement in training, and simple obedience commands (sit, stay, etc.). In the afternoon, the focus will shift to performance foundations. Attendees will learn games, exercises, and activities which will give their dogs a strong foundation to participate in K9 Sports. On the second day, we will continue to focus on performance by introducing skills specific to Trick Dog Training, Agility, Obedience, and Canine Conditioning.

If you choose the Auditing Spot plus Work Pass option, the times your dog will attend the seminar are:

Should you take a Working Spot, an Auditing Spot, or an Auditing Spot + a Work Pass?

Working spots are ideal if:
* your dog is comfortable in new environments and not easily stressed
* you are a kinesthetic learner (ie. you learn better if you actually do the exercise)
* your dog is crate trained and can stay quietly in a crate when not being worked
* your dog is not reactive

Auditing spots are ideal if:
* you are an auditory or visual learner
* you want to be able to learn from the experiences of a wide variety of dogs
* your dog is young and not reliably potty trained
* your dog is not crate trained
* your dog is reactive
* you are uncomfortable being observed by a large group of people

Auditing spots + work passes are ideal if:
* your dog is not crate trained
* your dog is well behaved around other dogs
* your dog is comfortable in new environments and not easily stressed
* you are a kinesthetic learner (ie. you learn better if you actually do the exercise)
* you either live close to the college or are able to have someone drop off and pick up your dog at specific times. Working passes are scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 (Performance Foundations), Sunday at 10:30 (Tricks), and Sunday at 1:30 (Agility and Canine Conditioning)

Both working and auditing spots will offer a fantastic learning experience. If you have any questions about which spot is ideal for you, please contact Tara at tara@allstark9academy.com.
